POSITION SUMMARY:


The Senior Project Manager is responsible for developing and applying advanced project management and product development principles, theories, and techniques towards the successful delivery of Thornhill Medical’s products. Working with senior management and staff, the position supports the initiation and management of department projects and programs.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Leadership:

  • Defines project/program goals, objectives, fit into the organization, direction and sets a clear vision.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Mentors junior project management team members and overall organization in the application of project management best practices.


Project Management:

  • Develops charters and comprehensive project plans, including all project delivery artifacts (detailed schedule, budget, resource plans, risk management, stakeholder management, etc.).
  • Leads project teams in the execution of project plans, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Acts as the single point of contact for ensuring conflict resolution, vendor/supplier management, and project communications.
  • Monitors and reports on project status to the Engineering team and other key stakeholders.
  • Identifies and addresses potential risks and issues while resolving all cross-functional management issues affecting projects, e.g., priority setting.
  • Works with project team to develop required project technical documentation (e.g., requirements, specifications, procedures) and to establish good communication practices within the team and outside vendors.
  • Drives continuous improvement of the organization’s capability in project management.


Project Administration:

  • Responsible for all forms of project administration, including:

-Meetings: status, reporting, retrospectives

-Schedule/budget monitoring and analysis

-Effectively managing priority setting and staff interaction

-Reporting project status

-Identifies ways to reduce and improve project administration.

  • Demonstrates company values and works with integrity.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or similar field.
  • 8+ years of direct progressive program and project management experience with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience in the medical device industry preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred, e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficient in project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Hybrid).
  • Strong working knowledge of tools used in project management (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio, Office Suite, etc.).
  • Highly organized with a deep understanding of managing timelines, project roadmaps and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of the following standards: ISO 14971, IEC 60601.
  • Familiar with Medical Device Regulations (Health Canada, FDA, and EMA).
  • Drive to consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances.
  • Holds self and others accountable to meet commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written) and ability to convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to see the big picture but capable of understanding the details whenever necessary.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primarily office environment with exposure to production work rooms when required.
  • Light lifting and bending.
  • Some local travel required.
